Description
After the world premiere of NAYOLA – in the official selection of the Festival de Annecy on June 13, 2022 – we did a promotional tour of the movie in the French region Bretagne in anticipation of its release in France. At the end of each session, we would join the audience and make ourselves available to answer all their questions. We realised they were very curious about the movie’s creative process and the Angolan historical context.
A few weeks later, we met with producers Ana, Geert, Linda, Arnoud, Michiel, Serge, Tomás, Jorge, Camille, and Jean-François to share the tour experience. From that meeting came the idea of making
a book to tell the “journey” of the film’s long creative process: the stories, people, and places that inspired us.
We made friends in Portugal, Angola, Belgium, France, and the Netherlands.
